Vacation!
This week has been the first vacation I've taken in about two years. I decided that staying at home and just relaxing was the best choice. Next time, Europe :) I've been taking it as an opportunity to get some of my shit done. I worked on a comic for the hurricane relief webithon thing Brad Guigar is hosting, I worked on the mysterious Frankencomic project with Greg (my part mainly consisting of being in the same room), I got the Rob and Elliot comics done in a (relatively) timely manner, and I've been working on a redesign of the Rob and Elliot site which makes heavy use of css. Getting stuff done feels really good, but a part of me just wants to veg out and play some video games. Speaking of which, my girlfriend got me a new video card for my birthday, and I'll finally be able to play some recent games on my computer. More recent than my Geforce 2 pro would let me, anyway. You guys have any suggestions for PC games that have come out in the last year or so that you found to be awesome? No MMORPGS please, I don't have that kind of time.

yeah man, (hope you dont mind that i added you, i love the comic ;) but if you havent played half life 2 yet, that is a must. Other than that Battlefield 2 is a safe bet as well. oh, and keep an eye out for the open beta of a game called Rakion, its highly addicting.

Yeah, great comic man, anyways on to the PC gaming... well, the majority of the PC games out lately can be purchased for other systems as well, hell even Battlefield 2 is going to be able to be gotten for PS2(although I did hear it was going to be a bastardized version of BF2). And Half-Life 2 is definately a must buy. And if you're talking around a year or so then definately get Rome:Total War, its addicting as the iMonkey, Far Cry is also a great game and Rise Of Nations, definatly. As far as upcoming games, keep your eye out for Black And White 2 if nothing else.

I gotta say, Psychonauts is a great game.

Other recommendations:
- Civilization III (Turn based strategy)
- Freedom Force (RPG)
- Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich (RPG)
- The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (Stealth, adventure, FPS)
- Call of Duty series (WW2 FPS)
- Doom 3 (FPS)

MMO's are the driving force for PC games right now, so it's hard to find good single player games, but some older games that are still really fun are:

- Anachronox (One of my favorites. RPG set in the future and it's extremely hilarious. A must buy if you can find it.)
- Deus Ex (Another wonderful game. It's a rpg/stealth/fps/adventure game. Plus, every time you play, and depending on different choices you make, there are several different storylines and endings.)
- System Shock 2 (Yet ANOTHER rpg/stealth/fps/adventure game. The story is that you're a new recruit on a ship that was taken over by a strange computer virus. Very scary, as well!)
- Half Life (Not only is this a solid FPS, but there are so many mods out there that will keep you busy for a long long time.)

I also agree with everyone who posted above. Great comic, by the way!

Hey. I added you. Hope you don't mind. I really hope you remember me from the email I sent (subject:An aspiring webcomic writer). Anyway, I would suggest playing Guild Wars. I know they have said a lot of crap about it, but its actually pretty cool. That and good ol' Halo 2. Of course thats not PC.....

Hey, how's that vacation going? Technically it's not a vacation if you don't leave the house (shit, even hobos are out-and-about kind of people), but I can understand the desire to shutter oneself and bask in the cathode glow of the video game screen. Later, gramps!

Hello! Just wanted to say two things.
1- I adore your comic and think you are quite the nifty artist. I shall be adding you as a friend, if that's cool (and judging by your confusion as to why the guy above would even ask, I assume it is cool indeed). I do plain ol' paper comics and am always looking around for artists better than me so I can leech words of wisdom. Got any? *laugh*
and 2- My boyfriend says City of Heroes was supposed to be a good PC game that isn't overly time consuming once the setup is done.

1: Thanks! Anyone should feel free to add me as a friend. My words of wisdom are to learn Photoshop or a graphics program of similar caliber (the Gimp is free). Even if you aren't creating art on the computer, you'll find it invaluable in any number of tasks (website building, cleaning up art, for example). If you want to send me an email with a link to your comic, I'll definitely check it out. Last thing is, if you own a tablet and don't have Painter, you are a fool.
2: City of Heroes...check.
